Michael Eklund
Biography

Michael Eklund is one of Canada's busiest up-and-coming actors. Blessed with a wide and versatile range, Michael has come to be known for disappearing into every role and radically transforming his look for each new character.

Currently, Michael is working on A.R.T. in Las Vegas in London, England, with award winning director Mary McGuckian, and he just completed playing a lead role in the feature film ‘Walk All Over Me’, directed by critically acclaimed director Robert Cuffley. 

Michael’s past feature film credits include, starring in the feature film ‘The Entrance’ where he was honoured with the Best Actor in a Feature Film award at the Pensylvania Film Festival, a Leo Award nomination and a Best Actor nomination at the New York City Film Festival for his portrayal as a conscienceless, angst ridden drug dealer who is slated for death and attempts to repay for his sins. ‘The Entrance’ is currently “sweeping up” world-wide in the festival circuit. 

Michael’s other film credits include ‘88 Minutes with Al Pacino, ‘When a Man Falls in the Forest’, ‘Bloodrayne 2’, ‘Postal’, ‘K9 PI’, ‘Deadly Visions’ and the cult favorite ‘House of the Dead’.  His movie of the week credits include leads in the critically acclaimed award winning ten part mini-series ‘Terminal City’ (Movie Central), 8 Days to Live’ (Lifetime Network and CTV), the ‘New Beachcombers Christmas’ (CBC), ‘Termination Point’ (Sci Fi Network) and ‘Living with the Dead’ (CBS).  Michael has also guest-starred on such episodic series as ‘Smallville’ (CW); ‘Traveler’ (ABC);  ‘Flash Gordon’ (Sci-Fi Channel); ‘The 4400’ and ‘Touching Evil’, directed by Allen Hughes (both for USA Network); ‘Psych’ (NBC), ‘Battlestar Galactica’, ‘Cold Squad’ (CTV), ‘Dead Like Me’ (Showtime), ‘Romeo’ (Nickelodeon), ‘Mysterious Ways’ (PAX), ‘Davinci’s Inquest’ (CBC) and countless others.

Recently, Michael wrapped a recurring role on ‘Bloodties’ (Lifetime), based on the best-selling books of the same title written by Tanya Huff, in which he plays the character of “Norman”. As well as, his costarring role as “Rene Desjardine”, an undercover narc, in the new CBC series created by Chris Haddock, ‘Intelligence’.  Other recent credits include "Mearl" and "Earl", the mullet sporting caretaker for ‘YTV's ZIXX’, which Michael was honoured with a Leo Award nomination for his work, and a lead in ‘Alice I Think’ (CTV/Comedy) where Michael creates the character “Marcus”, a man/boy in his thirties who refuses to join the rest of society, so he dates teenagers from the local high school. 

Michael Eklund hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Although Michael had performed in theatre in school, he originally set out to pursue a career as an artist, attending the prestigious Alberta College of Art.  After meeting the lovely actor/writer Megan Bennett, whom is now his wife, he dropped out of the art program to follow his dream of becoming an actor and thus moved to Vancouver.  Michael’s passion for acting is fueled by a love for film. He has established himself as a valuable character actor not only in film, but also in television.
