Cory Monteith
Biography
Cory Monteith was born in Calgary, Alberta, and moved to BC’s Vancouver Island when he was two. Cory fell into the jack-of-all-trades category early in life holding jobs as a Wal-Mart greeter, school bus driver for a daycare, roofer and cab driver.
He was always a ‘performer’ off stage, but it was while he was working as a cab driver that a customer suggested that he should try out acting as it looked like a good fit for him. Cory took his advice and signed up for acting classes as a lark and discovered that not only did he really enjoy it, but that he also was good at it.
When he turned twenty, he decided to move from Vancouver Island to Vancouver to give professional acting a try and quickly started booking roles. Acting appeals to Cory’s mercurial nature because it always changes and is always a challenge requiring focus and hard work. As an actor, he has been able to shoot guns, run with wolf packs and scream himself hoarse whilst hanging upside down by a string pretending to be eaten by a monster.
Recently, Cory finished shooting the lead in the MOW ‘Hybrid’ and is a series lead on MTV’s ‘Kaya’ and a recurring guest star in ABC’s ‘Kyle XY’. He has made appearance in ‘Final Destination 3’, ‘The Invisible’, ‘Deck the Halls’ and ‘Whisper’. He also has had numerous guest appearances on the small screen in ‘Smallville’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘Stargate’, ‘Flash Gordon’ and 'Interns’.
Cory calls Vancouver home and is rock-star wannabe in his spare time, playing the video game ‘Guitar Hero 2’. He also snowboards, plays the drums and travels when he can. Oh, and he also loves a good breakfast.
