'Cheaters' creator Bobby Goldstein brings namesake production company to Vancouver, BC
The hit investigative reality series is celebrating its tenth season on-air
For immediate release - August 2009—Renowned producer, writer and creator Bobby Goldstein is pleased to announce he is bringing his production company Bobby Goldstein Productions to Vancouver, BC. The innovative producer will be in Canada working on a number of projects, including future film and television developments, as well as continuing the distribution and licensing of his wildly popular reality series ‘Cheaters’.
‘Cheaters’ is one of the first reality show formats to air on television, and has been helping suspicious partners enlist hidden camera crews to catch their significant others in the act, since it began airing in 2000. The weekly syndicated show documents the people who are suspected of cheating on their loved ones, with the help of the Cheaters Detective Agency. Joey Greco hosts the popular show, which is now one of the highest rated syndicated shows on television. There have been many scandalous, heart wrenching, engaging, shocking and entertaining moments on the show over the past ten years. Goldstein has gained a lot of insight from ‘Cheaters’ over the last decade, and says, “If I’ve learned anything, it is that adults have a lot more fun during adultery than children do during childhood.”
ABOUT BOBBY GOLDSTEIN PRODUCTIONS: The Dallas based production company was formed as a vehicle to produce and distribute ‘Cheaters’, and has since become a highly regarded production company; with projects ranging from television to online ventures. It wasn’t until he felt that his successful career as a lawyer had run its course that Bobby created Bobby Goldstein Productions, in conjunction with the creation of his hit TV series. Even when Goldstein first entered law, he intended to incorporate the entertainment industry somehow. He always had a passion for television and entertainment, and all it took was a fresh idea for a television show to get Bobby back on the fast track to Hollywood success.
It wasn’t long after Goldstein came up with the premise for the “domestic relations investigation” show that he began shooting episodes and approaching television networks. The term ‘reality TV’ had not yet come into fruition when Bobby Goldstein wrote and copywrited ‘Cheaters’ in 1995. Bobby Goldstein Productions has been distributing and licensing ‘Cheaters’ worldwide since the show began airing. The production company is also the creator of the Cheaters Detective Agency, which was spawned inadvertently from the 400,000 plus relationship investigation requests per year.
Fourteen years later Goldstein is bringing his namesake production company to Vancouver, where he will not only continue to license and distribute ‘Cheaters’ across Canada, but will be working on new projects as well.
One such project is the television program ‘Divorce Party’. The show, which is currently shooting, is a kin to its forefather ‘Cheaters’. As Goldstein describes, it is an “off-beat quasi-reality TV show, and a dissertation on divorce and it provides the viewing audience an opportunity to decide who’s at fault in the break-up of a marriage.” The results are determined through audience voting, as well as incorporating the audience with a web component. The series takes away the judge in a divorce, and gives that power to the people.
Among other future film and television projects in the works for Bobby Goldstein Productions is the horror film titled ‘Shaming Evil’, currently in pre-production.
Goldstein’s corporate philosophy involves what he calls a “New Shoreline”. Goldstein says everything he does must be “Something that hasn’t been swam to and capitalized on yet, because I think there’s still some originality in the arts and media”. After many years of visiting Vancouver, Goldstein decided to call it home two years ago, and is excited about bringing his professional life to Canada as well. He says, “We’ve had a great track record and we have great people working for us and we would like to align with people in Canada to expand and bring a level of creativity and unique programming concepts to be produced here so that I can help shine a brighter light for the film scene here and take it around the world.”
Bobby Goldstein is available for interviews, photographs and demo reels upon request.
