Amanda Crew
Biography
Leo award winning actress Amanda Crew was born and raised in Langley, BC. She has become an overnight success in the acting world, and quickly garnered attention from loyal Whistler fans. This young star is on the fast track to becoming one of Canada’s top actors.
Her latest project, the feature film Sex Drive, is set for theatrical release in October 2008. Amanda plays the gorgeous, spunky tomboy friend of Josh Zuckerman (Austin Powers: Goldmember, Pretty Persuasion) in this road trip buddy comedy about a young man on a cross-country mission to lose his virginity.
Directed by Sean Anders and also starring Clark Duke (Superbad), James Marsden (Enchanted, X-Men 1-3) and Seth Green (Austin Powers 1-3, The Italian Job), the film follows Ian (Zuckerman) and his two best friends (Duke and Crew) on a hilarious journey to meet his online lady love.
Amanda is best known for her role as Carrie Miller in the hit CTV series Whistler, a role that won her this year’s 2007 Leo award for Best Lead Female in a Dramatic Series. Whistler, a drama series set in the high-society winter playgrounds of North America, is filmed in Vancouver, BC. Season two unfolds with a twist of hope for Amanda’s character Carrie. With the mysterious death of her ex-boyfriend Beck McKaye finally solved, Carrie and the Whistler community move forward with their lives. Carrie attempts to come to terms with being the daughter of the most powerful man in town, much to the displeasure of her protective older sister Nicole.
In addition to working on the series Whistler, Amanda starred opposite Virginia Madsen and Elias Koteas in the Gold Circle Films production of The Haunting in Connecticut. Directed by Peter Cornwall, it’s the true story of one family’s supernatural ordeal. When the son of the Campbell family is diagnosed with cancer, they uproot themselves to Connecticut to seek treatment. Amanda plays their cousin, Wendy, who comes to live with them. As they settle into their new home, the son grows increasingly disturbed by terrifying paranormal activity that exposes the house’s dark secrets. But then, the son’s condition takes a sudden and unexplained turn for the worse, and they soon realize all their lives are in grave danger.
It was only a few years ago in 2003 that Amanda started a career in acting when she was cast as a series regular for two seasons on the YTV series 15/Love. Since then, she has gone on to book two supporting lead roles in feature films, including the cult hit Final Destination 3 and She’s The Man (starring Amanda Bynes); as well as television appearances, including recurring roles on the ABC series Life As We Know It, the popular WB series Smallville, and a leading role in the movie of the week Meltdown. Last year, Amanda filmed a supporting lead role in the movie The Genesis Code in Bulgaria.
In her spare time, she enjoys enjoying riding her bike on the seawall and going for walks with her dog.
