Alana Husband
Biography

Alana Husband was born in Bridgetown, Barbados. At a young age she moved to Calgary, Alberta with her family, where she grew up dancing, doing gymnastics, and various other sports. A natural athlete and born-performer, her first dream was to become a professional dancer until a knee injury steered her in a new direction—acting.

Alana first discovered her love of acting when she enrolled in a drama class in junior high school. She continued studying drama in high school, before beginning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Calgary. In university, Alana worked on numerous theatre productions and short films, including lead roles in Approaching Zanzibar, La Ronde, Urban Reality, Canadian Graffiti and Sam Shepard’s Simpatico.

In 1999, Alana took part in Calgary’s prestigious Shakespeare in the Park where she played lead roles in Comedy of Errors and Richard III.  After graduating from university, she studied acting for film and television at Company of Rogues and before booking her first film/TV audition — a recurring role on the teen drama Caitlin’s Way (2000 - 2001).

Alana went on to land roles on numerous American series such as Dark Angel (2001), Jeremiah (playing opposite Malcolm-Jamal Warner, 2002), The Dead Zone (2003), The Twilight Zone (2003), a recurring role in The L Word (2004), House (2004), Stargate Atlantis (2004), Killer Instinct (2005) Blade (2006), Saved (2006) and Psych (2006).  Feature films include a lead in MTV’s Monster Island (2004), FBI: The Negotiator (2005), Hollow Man 2 (2006),and most recently Hot Rod (2006)—a comedywith SNL’s Andy Samberg. Alana is pleased to finally have a Canadian production under her belt, as she currently plays “Sweet” every week on Chris Haddock’s new CBC series Intelligence.

When she’s not acting, Alana keeps busy with myriad hobbies including yoga, reading, crocheting, painting, photography and playing No Limit Texas Hold 'Em Poker.
