Moneca Delain part of the ensemble cast of ‘Sisters & Brothers’ To Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival

She most recently filmed “Three Days in Havana” in Cuba

September 2011 – Multi talented Actor/ Singer/Songwriter Moneca Delain is thrilled to join some of Canada’s most talented actors in the ensemble cast of "Sisters & Brothers" set to premiere at TIFF. Moneca joins her good friend Ali Liebert (Foxfire) as well as Cory Monteith (Glee) and Dustin Milligan (90210) in Carl Bessai’s newest feature film. “Sisters & Brothers” in the follow-up to Bessai’s Festival favourite, feature films "Mothers & Daughters" and "Fathers & Sons".

Most recently, Moneca has re-teamed with Gil Bellows (Emmy-award winning producer for HBO’s “Temple Grandin”) to complete filming the thriller, "Three Days in Havana" on location in Havana, Cuba. The cast also includes Kathleen Robertson (Boss), Tygh Runyan (Road to Nowhere), Greg Wise (Sense & Sensibility) & Don McKellar (Blindness). The feature film will be released in 2012.

Moneca got her feature film break in MGM's "Agent Cody Banks" where she seductively flirted with Frankie Muniz, giving him a holographic lesson on how to act with girls. This turned out to be a springboard, launching her into various roles on television series including "Battlestar Galactica", “Psych”, "Supernatural", as well as a recurring role on "Smallville".

Some of Moneca’s favourite experiences in the film making process include her roles in features "Kill Kill Faster Faster" and "Trick 'r Treat". In 2006, Moneca was cast in "Kill Kill Faster Faster", an indie based on the acclaimed novel by Joel Rose. She stars opposite fellow Canadians Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal,The Shawshank Redemption) and Lisa Ray (Water). When filming wrapped on location in Rotterdam, Holland, she returned to her hometown of Vancouver, B.C. to join the cast of "4: Rise of the Silver Surfer", the sequel to 20th Century Fox's "Fantastic Four". By the end of the year, Moneca began production on the Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures/Bryan Singer produced horror anthology "Trick 'r Treat" which was directed by Michael Dougherty (writer of X2, Superman Returns). The film takes place on Halloween night, intertwining four story lines with an ensemble cast that includes Anna Paquin (True Blood), Brian Cox (X2), Dylan Baker (Spider-Man) & Leslie Bibb (A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy). She found that these films were fulfilling & exciting projects to be a part of as a lot of growth happened for her, not only on a professional level but on a personal note as well.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Moneca’s backyard playground growing up was Granville Island. She began performing at the age of three. Her mother put her intodance classes from Polynesian (Hawaiian, Tahitian, Maori, Samoan) to jazz, tap, lyrical, ballet and hip hop. She participated in dance competitions until she was eighteen years old and performed at many venues including Disneyland and Las Vegas. She credits a wonderful drama teacher in high school named Ms. Harwood for inspiring her to pursue her dreams in acting. “I will always be forever grateful to her. I absolutely love what I do and can't imagine doing anything else,” says Moneca.

She graduated from Prince of Wales Secondary School then studied at Langara College. She has trained with acting teachers in both Vancouver and Los Angeles including the Larry Moss Studio and Ivana Chubbuck.

Not only an actor, Moneca is a singer/songwriter. Some of her accomplishments include singing on “Stay” featured on Chin Injeti’s Album ‘Re’tach”. Injeti may be best known for his work on Eminem’s 2011 Grammy winning album “Recovery”. She and Chin continue to collaborate on music placement for film and television. Other hits include “Back in the Day” with the music video on high rotation on both MuchMusic and MuchMore and featured Cris Judd (Jennifer Lopez’s former ex- husband) as the love interest & choreographer. The song hit #1 across Canada. She also wrote "Sweet Butterfly" for the J-Pop band Butoukan (the N'Sync/ Backstreet Boys of Asia) and wrote and recorded a song called "One Day" for the soundtrack of Like Mike 2: Streetball (2006).

Moneca currently lives in Vancouver and travels back and forth between Toronto and Los Angeles. She spends time improving her French speaking skills as well as participating in dance, pilates and yoga classes. She has been a volunteer with Oxfam since 2007. Moneca follows a pescetarian diet and has a rescue cockatiel named Angel...
