Biography
Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson is a comedic speaker and television host with an amazing life story and a big heart.
Laura-Lynn was born in Uganda, East Africa. In 1973, her father witnessed an army general murder their town mayor, one block from their home. Shortly thereafter, her family was deported to Nairobi, Kenya by Idi Amin Dada, the military dictator of Uganda at the time. After this traumatic experience, Laura-Lynn moved to Tuktoyaktuk, North West Territories, where she lived for three years. It was like going from the oven to the freezer. Today, Laura-Lynn resides in Vancouver with her husband, their three children, and their beautiful dog, Tennile.
In her eight-year television career, she has hosted several television shows including The Big Picture,Retro, The Standardand her very own mock reality show,Coffee Shop Girl.She currently co-hosts the Vancouver-based television show,The Daily with Mark and Laura-Lynn, which airs everyday across Canada on CHNU channel 10 and the Vision Network.
She has also interviewed many fabulous guests like Dog the Bounty Hunter, Henry Winkler, Josh Duhamel, Jesse Metcalfe, Bill Good, Kevin Newman, Tony Parsons, Jill Krop, Deborra Hope, Steve Darling, Christy Clark, Bro. Jake, Tamara Taggert, Rafe Mair, Tamara Stanners, Darcy Rezac, Josh Duhamel, The Barenaked Ladies, Jared Leto, Jan Arden, Tom Green, Stedman Graham, Ted McGuinely, Rick Camponelli, and Clay Aiken—to name a few. In her spare time, she and her husband JT are actively involved with public policy reform to improve community safety by helping high-risk youth. The couple has taken in these young offenders, who have recently been released from jail to serve out the remainder of their sentences in the community, for periods of four to six months at a time. Through this experience, Laura-Lynn has observed the effects of our society, addiction, the justice system and youth culture on troubled teens. She has also found an unexpected passion to give these youth a fresh start and brighter future.
Laura-Lynn is also a motivational speaker. She brings her light-hearted yet profound insight to life, helping and inspiring women in her talks by sharing her personal challenges and achievements with a comedic flare. Her genuine and down-to-earth style makes her easy to relate to. It’s no wonder viewers love her—she is a delight to watch!

The Daily is a half-hour burst of inspiring talk television designed to provide viewers with a refreshingly positive spiritual perspective on the issues, events, and news-making personalities of the month.
Laura-Lynn, who recently landed a publishing deal for her book Outrageous, shares her personal struggles and triumphs to bring knowledge, clarity and wisdom through this mutually experienced journey we all call ‘life’.
As a motivational speaker, her down-to-earth style and self-deprecating humour allows her audience to feel at ease and be inspired not to take life so seriously. She has found her true purpose in remaining open, real and vulnerable with her viewers through the ups and downs of her profession.
