JACOB BLAIR CO-STARS IN “CHRISTMAS COMES COME TO CANAAN”
on the Hallmark Channel December 17th and W Network on December 19th, 2011

Jacob is also in the feature film “Underworld Awakening” out on January 20th  2012

November 2011 –Canadian actor Jacob Blair co-stars in  “Christmas Comes Home to Canaan”, the sequel to the acclaimed Hallmark Channel Movie “Christmas in Canaan.” Jacob plays the oldest son, DJ, to Billy Ray Cyrus’ character Daniel Burton. Jacob’s role as DJ allowed him to play the jokester, who always tries to lift the spirit and be the glue that helps hold the family together. “Christmas Comes Home to Canaan” is airing on the Hallmark Channel December 17th, 2011 and the W Network December19th, 2011.

Next up for the up-and-coming performer, Jacob will be seen on the big screen in the latest installment of the Underworld saga: “Underworld Awakening.” He plays Officer Kolb, a rookie detective, paired with veteran Detective Sebastian (Michael Ealy).  They are given the task to get to the bottom of the Lycan/Vampire war that has brought humankind into the mix. “Underworld Awakening” will be released in theatres January 20, 2012.

Jacob has been busy since he started acting professionally four years ago.  He has worked on the feature films “Day The Earth Stood Still” (2008), “2012” (2009), “Christmas in Canaan” (2009), “Smokin Aces 2: Assassin’s Ball” (2010), “Hot Tub Time Machine” (2010), “The A-Team” (2010) and “Wrecked” (2010).

On the small screen Jacob’s first television series was the CW Network’s “Aliens in America”
Favorite role to date was Dan Archer, a wise cracking, belittling, bullying antagonist in “Aliens in America.” He has also had recurring roles on the television series’ “SGU: Stargate Universe” and “V”.

In Jacob’s first year of college he was focused on a Commerce degree and athletics, until a friend of his convinced him to take drama classes to fill his course load, and raise his GPA. He received enough positive feedback about his natural abilities and enjoyment in this new art form that it became a new career direction. Ever since then, he has fallen more in love with the art and the industry. At 19, Jacob was accepted to the Theatre Arts Program at Langara College, more famously known as Studio 58, in Vancouver, and graduated from one of Canada’s most renowned training programs.

In the four years that Jacob has been working professionally he has been fortunate to work with actors Thandie Newton, Aaron Ashmore, Lucy Hale, Ty Olsson John Cusack, Lyndsy Fonseca, Scott Patterson, Dan Byrd, Adhir Kalyan, Lindsey Shaw, Patrick Wilson, Jessica Biel, Brian Bloom, Bradley Cooper, Maury Sterling, Adrien Brody, Michael Ealy, Billy Ray Cyrus and Liam Neeson, to name a few.  He sincerely feels it has been a privilege and has enjoyed working and learning from all of them.

Until the age of 5, Jacob grew up on a farm just outside of Ponoka, Alberta, before his family moved south to Red Deer where Jacob lived until he was19.  He then moved to Vancouver to pursue acting. The youngest of three children, Jacob has an older sister and brother. His mother, who is a registered nurse, and his father, a retired telecommunications entrepreneur, have been supportive of Jacob’s decision to pursue acting.

Jacob and his wife Trisha have just moved from Vancouver to Toronto, where they live with their larger than life Coton de Tulear dog Winston.  Jacob enjoys watching television and seeing new releases. He listens to all kinds of new and old music and enjoys reading, traveling, tweeting, crossword puzzles and spending time with his wife, friends and family.  To keep in shape Jacob combines works out with P90X and participates in a combination of hockey, volleyball, golf, soccer, swimming and horseback riding, On the artistic side, he plays acoustic guitar, writes music, sings and dabs in sculpture. His favorite meals to cook are beef Wellington and eggs benedict.  To keep up with his craft Jacob continually works on accents and character voices of all kinds.
