Actor Chenier Hundal nominated for a best actor for a Best Actor Gemini Award for his performance in the critically acclaimed television film "The Terrorist Next Door"

VANCOUVER, BC – October, 2009---Canadian actor Chenier Hundal is nominated for a Gemini Award in the Best Actor in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series category, for his role in the critically acclaimed television movie ‘The Terrorist Next Door’. The Gemini Awards honour the best in Canadian television, and this year marks the esteemed awards show’s 24th broadcast. ‘The Terrorist Next Door’ is a CTV feature film, which stars Chenier Hundal, Cathleen Robertson (‘Beverly Hills, 90210’) and Chris William Martin (‘Vampire Diaries’). Set in Montreal near the turn of the millennium, ‘The Terrorist Next Door’ follows the true story of Ahmed Ressam (Chenier), a young Algerian man who comes to Canada looking for a better life, but ends up entwined with a group of terrorists.
The acclaimed film is inspired by the real-life events surrounding the recruitment and capture of Ahmed Ressam - aka the "Millennium Bomber". Ressam was convicted of smuggling a bomb into the United States as part of an Al Qaeda plot to blow up Los Angeles International Airport on New Year's Eve, 1999.
This film, with an intense role for Chenier to portray, provided the emerging Canadian talent an opportunity to display his incredible versatility and acting range.
Chenier isn’t new to nominations highlighting his inspired performances: He was nominated for- and won- a Leo Award for Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Feature Length Drama, for his role in ‘Murder Unveiled’. Based on a true story, ‘Murder Unveiled’ reveals the tragedy of a young Indo Canadian woman, who was inspired by love to pursue a new life in India, but ultimately was crushed by her family's driving ambitions.
This bright actor has tackled a variety of roles in his career, with his credits including roles in the films ‘Partition’ (opposite Kristen Kreuk and Neve Campbell), ‘Dr. Dolittle 3’, and ‘Pink Ludoos’. He also had a guest starring role on the hit sci-fi series ‘The Dead Zone’.
Chenier Hundal is originally from North Vancouver. He began acting shortly after graduating from high school, and has been pursuing his passion for performing ever since. He studied acting with a variety of teachers and studios across North America, including a stint at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City.
Chenier leads an active lifestyle, and when he isn’t busy working on a project, he likes to play football, baseball and ski. He also loves spending time outdoors with his dog Buddy.
